A "Rural Life Immersion" course is being offered in Southeastern Spain, targeting individuals contemplating a lifestyle change, those drawn to rural environments, or anyone interested in understanding a more conscious and earth-connected way of living. This specialist, face-to-face course aims to provide a practical and realistic perspective on managing rural life, encompassing work, ecological stewardship, and community sustainability.
The course is scheduled to run from April 3rd to April 6th, 2026. It will involve visits to four distinct projects across Murcia and Albacete regions. The itinerary includes: Proyecto Rucula in Mula, Murcia, on April 3rd (starting at 12:00 h); Proyecto Las Torrentas in Calasparra, Murcia, for a full day on April 4th; Proyecto Las Suertes in Elche de la Sierra, Albacete, for a full day on April 5th; and Almazaran, also in Elche de la Sierra, Albacete, concluding on April 6th (by 16:00 h).
Participants will not merely observe but actively engage in the daily activities of these projects. The four projects offer diverse insights into rural living: Proyecto Rucula is a commercial citrus growing enterprise that also incorporates a food forest; Proyecto Las Torrentas is an emerging community initiative currently focused on house renovation; Proyecto Las Suertes is an established family smallholding; and Almazaran is a Land Stewardship project.
The curriculum of the immersion course will cover several key areas relevant to sustainable rural living, particularly in an arid climate. These include techniques for soil and landscape regeneration, water management as a fundamental aspect of landscape design, methods for sustainable food production, the integration of biodiversity with economic viability, strategies for building strong relationships and fostering community, and practical knowledge of home renovations using natural and local materials.
The course will be conducted in Spanish, with English translation provided to ensure accessibility for a broader audience.
