Join OFRF in Carnation, WA at the Oxbow Farm and Conservation Center this September! Explore the art and science of cover crop management through hands-on, field-based learning to build healthier soil and resilient farms. This field day, focused on the fall & winter season asks: How can cover crops build and protect soil during the dormant season? Attendees will learn how cool-season cover crops can be integrated into small-scale farm systems to stabilize soil, manage crop residue, support soil biology, and prepare fields for spring production.

The day will start with a deep dive into fall and winter cover crop design, including variety selection, timing, site preparation, seeding strategies, and residue management. Then, participants will head into the fields to observe seasonal cover crops in action and discuss the tools and decision-making processes that support successful establishment and long-term soil health.
